“Go Large” Spalted Beech Breakfast Board
Finished with Butcher Block Oil (Food safe) and inlaid with finger grooves.
At Justin’s Woodcraft all our boards, chopping, bread, breakfast and cheese are all made from Spalted Beech. Pale cream in colour often with pink hues. The spalting causes many different designs to occur on the timber. Spalting is caused by a fugus growing on dead trees. When the timber is dry this fungus dies and so the boards are perfectly safe for food use. Spalting can occur on any timber but seems to be most common on beech. All of our Spalted Beech comes from a sawmill in Graiguecullen in Count Laois just on the Carlow border.
Note: As all our products are sustainably sourced from lumber which has been naturally felled by natural occurences such as storms or old-age, the measurements given here are an average and not an exact size.
